This is all a bit sad and unexpected I have to say, and as 3Rs of Retirement states, you’ll miss us when we’re gone! It’s been a great challenge to ‘have a go’ at and a wonderful community. I’ve really enjoyed taking part over the last couple of years. And so to my favourites.
This was snapped at Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens and is known as Pink Poodle. It’s a Calliandra surinamensis, and I loved the pink detail of the flowers. Detail was the challenge.
This photograph was taken back in October 2006 and although it’s a scary looking Huntsman, it is a beautiful and rare sight to behold. I’d popped outside to put some rubbish in the dustbin, opened back the lid and this was the surprise waiting for me. A female Huntsman who had secured her sac of about two hundred eggs against the side of the bin. She then placed a few loving arms over her precious bundle. Mother Nature at her exquisite best. The challenge was rare.

Lovely trio of shots. I fear spiders so seeing that Huntsman up close was a bit petrifying 😀 It is an amazing shot, the spider so protective of the little ones in there. That looked like a fiery Easter sunset, that whole sky ablaze. Sad to see the photo challenge go. I discovered your blog through the challenges 🙂

Thank you Mabel . I too am not a fan of spiders and it’s not a pretty picture but had to show it again. It is a shame the photo challenge is finishing but long may our blogging friendship continue 😊

I love the sunset picture and it was interesting to see the spider with the eggs. It sounds from it’s name as if it might be a poisonous one!

Actually not to humans. Apparently they’re good to have around as they keep other nasties at bay – I’m not convinced though!

I’m going to miss the WPC too, but I guess we can still add to them by digging into their archive. I know I missed quite a few.

Between us I’m sure we could think of something. I did ‘Photo of the Week” for almost two years when we travelled around Australia. Not sure I could do that again though.

I’ve just breathed a sigh of relief. When I first started reading I thought you were giving your blog away. Then I realised I was mistaken. No more terrible frights please.
By the way, wonderful images, an absolute pleasure to view..
